OUR MISSION:
To warm the hearts of our community by enabling Christian-oriented performing arts, visual arts, and related endeavors through financial assistance, administrative and promotional support, and provision of venue space for sponsored organizations.
Our Origin Story:
Fezziwig Foundation was formed in February 2022 in order to underwrite family-oriented amateur / community theatre in Gwinnett County. Fezziwig's initial "client" was Dogwood Theatre Company, an unaffiliated association of college and high school actors with common ties in the Dacula area. Several of Fezziwig's board members are co-founders of Dogwood. During summer 2021, those who would eventually become Fezziwig's leadership produced Dogwood's first-ever work: the play Arsenic and Old Lace. It was a successful project, helping to justify the formation of a non-profit entity to support future works of this kind.
So in 2022, with 501(c)(3) credentials in hand, Fezziwig Foundation produced the play Clue out of Lawrenceville Arts Center. LAC staff reported exclusively positive comments from patrons, i.e. 100% positive reviews. The successful endeavor expanded Fezziwig’s reach within Gwinnett County, building a more diverse following, and connecting us to new corporate sponsors, private donors, and patrons. It also helped us form a friendly alliance with Aurora Theatre, the resident troupe of Lawrenceville Arts Center.
Summer 2023 saw Fezziwig successfully produce its first ever musical. Into the Woods was performed out of Hebron Christian Academy in Dacula, Georgia. Through the weekend, Fezziwig hosted several dozen "celebrity guests," individuals with interest in the arts but not necessarily means to attend community theatre in Gwinnett. The popularity of the Celebrity Guest program compelled us to consider it a permanent element in future productions.
In 2024 Fezziwig stretched its capabilities even further, successfully producing multiple works. We welcomed our most-ever patrons to a musical that July, with Anastasia by Dogwood Theatre Company garnering dozens of comments attesting to the production’s quality, how it rivaled professional theatre. Then in December we put on first-ever Christmastime production – a one act version of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, adapted and performed by Dogwood.
Support from the community, loyal sponsors, and devoted friends makes Fezziwig’s future very bright!
